Meet the Team
We’re a compact team with a wide-reaching impact, and work with expert partners to restore ecosystems for the long term. From ecological guidance to trusted on-the-ground delivery, we’re supported by skilled specialists, local communities, and volunteer stewards to care for these landscapes well into the future.

Gill Chapple
Chief Executive Officer
With over 25 years’ experience leading businesses across multiple sectors, Gill combines a strong background in executive management and accounting with a deep commitment to nature restoration. She first joined The Future Forest Company over five years ago and has recently returned as CEO to guide the business through its next phase, one that unites commercial strength with environmental ambition. Gill’s focus is on ensuring that every decision delivers both tangible benefits for nature and ensures a resilient organisation capable of restoring landscapes for generations to come. By aligning robust financial strategy with meaningful ecological outcomes, she is working to maximise the value FFC creates - for our partners, our communities, and the planet we share.

Dan Maltby
Chief Operating Officer
As COO, Dan leads the delivery of our projects and oversees day-to-day operations across our estates. With a background in hands-on operations and team leadership, his focus is on keeping things moving, solving problems early, and building systems that work for people and nature. He's a firm believer in restoring our connection to the land through understanding, collaboration, and creativity.

Lily Dushimwe
Financial Controller
Lily manages the company’s finances, ensuring accurate reporting, strong cash flow, and compliance while supporting sustainable growth. Growing up in an agriculturally dependent country, she witnessed firsthand the severe impact of climate change on the local population. This experience motivated her to work for a company committed to fighting climate change.

Kate Truby
Head of Partnerships
Kate’s career journey took her from the experiential travel industry to the purpose-driven world of sustainability, a shift inspired by the realisation that we all share a responsibility to protect and restore the world we love. Today, driven by that mission, she builds relationships with businesses that genuinely want to make a difference for the environment, blending sharp commercial acumen with a deep commitment to biodiversity. Guided by her belief that business can be a powerful force for good, she focusses on creating meaningful connections and turning bold visions for a healthier planet into lasting impact. When not at work, she can usually be found exploring Scotland’s wild landscapes with her young daughter and dog, tending to an ever-expanding (and unruly) wildflower garden, or out on the trails chasing fresh air and big views.
